Zen Master Bathroom
This master bathroom was designed to meet the needs of a client with mobility/stability issues and health challenges.
We did a few things to make it more accessible and comfortable for her....
1. A walk-in/barrier free shower. The bathroom floor slopes towards the linear drain at the back.
2. The floor tile has great texture, or grip, to prevent slipping.
3. A custom bench was created at the exact height and depth of her favorite chair.
4. A shower head is positioned so she can shower seated and detach it when needed.
5. An attractive grab bar (yes, there is such a thing!) is placed to help her get up and down and maneuver in the shower.
6. A table and stool was added so she can sit to dry her hair and apply makeup. The stool was designed with handles to grasp when needed for stability.
7. It was really important to her that it felt relaxing, calming and bright. The table sits under a window so she can enjoy the outdoors. The color scheme and materials have a “zen” vibe.
8. High contrast surfaces help with depth perception as our eyes age.
It is gratifying to know that her new space is making life a bit easier.
